A day for Europe: in memory of Antonio Megalizzi

On the 26th of March, the School of International Studies organizes a research day in memory of Antonio Megalizzi, the SIS student killed in a terrorist attack in Strasbourg last December.

To honor Antonio's memory and his legacy to our community, the event will focus on the history of the European Union and will include contributions by SIS students and professors, as well as external scholars.

In the morning, we will launch the book "Highs and Lows of European Integration - Sixty Years After the Treaty" - Springer, edited by SIS professors Luisa Antoniolli, Luigi Bonatti and Carlo Ruzza. The book collects various contributions to the homonymous Conference organized by the SIS on November 6th, 2017.
The discussion of the book will be led by Marjia Bartl (U Amsterdam), Paolo Graziano (U Padova), and Silvia Merler (Johns Hopkins SAIS; Algebris Policy & Research Forum). 10.45 - 13.00

In the afternoon, MEIS and Erasmus students at the SIS will present their works on the history of the EU in a global perspective in the session "Globalizing europe. The History of EEC/EU in a Global Perspective" (Jean Monnet Chair 2018-21, held by Sara Lorenzini).
Carlo Spagnolo (U Bari) and Dieter Schlenker (EUI) will discuss the presentations. 14.30 - 16.00

Everyone is welcome to participate in an event that represents primarily an occasion to remember Antonio and discuss about Europe
